Like I wrote in my review, I had only been there once and will be going back, but I really don't know whether there are any live bands on in there tonight. Ring and find out more. That's all I can suggest. C.
Thanks Pete, yes on both accounts
I'm really sorry we are fully booked for this year
There isn't one on tonight I'm afraid.
Food superb 🍷👍
The Black Lion pub serves excellent food. Bands are a bit sparce at the moment due to the food being very popular but 2019 should see bands becoming more regular again. 😉
Sorry can't help on this one x
Great food. Lovely place to eat and drink with friends.
Popped into the Black Lion on the of chance and could not have been more pleasantly surprised. I ordered the fish and seafood pie topped with sweet potato, served with baked potato and peas. The quality and quantity was superb, my wife had the chicken an mushroom pie and she reckoned there was half a chicken in the pie 😁. Highly recommended.
Fantastic staff brilliant atmosphere food top notch
Great food and staff n locals were great too......
Great, friendly atmosphere, excellent meal- great value. We had chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce and pork medallions with an apple and honey sauce, chips and veg. Highly recommend
Very understanding landlord, nice atmosphere
Extremely nice staff, delicious food, cheap prices, distinct, quaint, English atmosphere, I loved it ❤
Nice friendly Covid safe, staff very welcoming .. thx
Not bad. Nice pub. Traditional pub menu. Food home made and very good.
Called here several times over two weekends has great food sports tv and great customer service. The landlord is very friendly and had plenty of time for people would definitely go back there the Sunday lunch is amazing
Great place 2nd meal I have had hear lamb shank was good for Sunday meal highly recommend it then came back for lamb chops. Get the mashed taters the gravy is some of the best I ever had
Nice pub next to the Old Bridge which has got very friendly staff serving excellent beer and food. Local beers and ciders offered which are well kept. Sunday roast was fantastic and plentiful and although we didn't book we were quickly accommodated. Highly recommend this place if you're in Hereford.
Met up with family, food wonderful and plenty of it. Staff friendly and polite. Recommend the chicken in brie sauce, the rump steak and the cod in batter.
Beautiful old building, lovely friendly staff. Food looked wonderful... next time we'll eat! Look forward to going back
Great portions, great food options and fab service!
Officially, the oldest pub in Hereford and most haunted building. Great architecture and cosy.
Good lunch, nice outdoor area
Lovely little pub with excellent home made pies. Serves HPA. Highly recommend.
Visited for a spot of lunch whilst on a day trip to Hereford. I had the steak & ale pie and let me tell you they do not cheat on the beef. Definitely will eat there again.
Lovely food and the bar staff were amazing. My cousin travelled from Bury St Edmonds and myself from Essex for a Funeral.
Great pub by the historic Old Bridge. Over 300 years old. Quality beer.
Found this pub by chance, it was a good omen. I had their homemade lasagna wow full of flavour and filling. Husband went for their chilli with chips, came with garlic bread again wow. That good he put vinegar on his so I'd not get any more than the first taste. ( evil man )🤣Atmosphere great staff so welcoming, don't want to praise it too much as others will find this little gem.Locals are lucky, see you soon.
good atmosphere, looked like nice food.
One of the best pub's in Hereford
Food excellent, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff
Very nice.
Atmosphere not good, not friendly. Better pubs elsewhere
Great food. Loads of it. Cheerful service. Nice ambience. All good. Great traditional quality pub 👌
Great atmosphere! Relax & chill
Not a flattering pic, but it was rammed with tasty tender meat, and the pastry was perfect! Highly recommend
Best place to be on a Sunday afternoon, fabulous roast and beer 😁 Plus roast is served until 5:30 pm and the staff are friendly.
Almost certainly the BEST Sunday Roast in the City. Fabulous portions, veggies cooked to perfection. Amazing hospitality by ALL staff. SUPERB 👍
Nice old fashioned looking pub with good quality real ales & friendly bar staff.

Such a cosy and nice atmosphere. It's a lovely old pub. The staff are friendly and welcoming. And it serves really wonderful pies and sausages. Great place to spend an evening.
Amazing sevice, amazing food, always friendly. Off the menu I would recommend...EVERYTYING!!!!
Went to this pub and found host and bar staff friendly and very accommodating. We had homemade steak and ale pie which was huge and the beef was very in it was huge tender chunks.. and reasonably priced, we would definately recommend visiting here. I think it’s the oldest pub in Hereford.
Very friendly staff, reasonably priced drinks and good service
Great pub great beer yet to try the food there.
Lovely food , & service .
Friendly, welcoming staff with a good selection of gin also
Traditional pub, great food, nice landlady, clean what more do you want. Husband had the fish pie and he enjoyed his real ale. I had a home made chicken and mushroom pie couldnt fault a thing.
Great food , great beer all in front of a open fire. Received a warm welcome from Staff and everyone.
Great food and staff at good prices and the dog was welcome.
Lovely local pub. Always top atmosphere and tasty food
My husband and I came here for a pub lunch (we have been craving them since we moved to the States), and we weren't disappointed here! The food was great! The chef can really cook. We had the beef pie, and the serving was huge! The pie was lovely, great pastry, and plenty of meat and gravy in the filling. The mash was lovely and creamy, and the peas were sweet and not over cooked, and it came with a nice big jug of gravy. The pub itself is nice and light, with plenty of room, and a nice garden bar out the back. The service was also great, the lady behind the bar was friendly and efficient. They also had some good beers and ciders on tap. I also have heard they do a really good Sunday lunch which we will definitely try when we are back in town!
Good ale good prices
Great beer, crazy mad landlord!! He's as mad as a box of frogs and makes the place great!
